Black Hills Center for Aging – Adult Day Services
Bryan’s life was forever changed in 2013 when he survived a massive stroke. Before the stroke, Bryan was a strong, loving, and independent husband and father- a man full of creativity and drive. A true entrepreneur at heart, he managed a 20-acre horse property, ran several successful businesses, and even patented his own step stool system. Life was full and busy, built around purpose, innovation, and family. After the stroke, everything changed. Bryan spent eight weeks in rehabilitation before returning home, where his loving wife, Sara, and their close-knit family surrounded him with care and support. The stroke left Bryan with significant cognitive impairment, and he could no longer care for himself or do the things he once loved. Yet through it all, his quick wit, joyful spirit, and deep love for Jesus Christ have remained constant. Bryan continues to be a light to everyone who meets him. In 2016, Bryan joined Black Hills Center for Aging, then known as Shirley’s Adult Day Center. Around that time, Sara made the difficult decision to sell their beloved horse property and move into town. The transition wasn’t easy, but the Adult Day Center soon became a source of comfort, routine, and happiness for both Bryan and Sara. “Bryan has loved Black Hills Center for Aging since day one!” Sara shares. “He’s such a social person, he needed and wanted that connection and friendship with others. The longevity of your staff, their compassion, and their commitment have meant so much to us over the years. It’s exactly what we’ve needed to maintain our lives together at home, and we truly can’t imagine what our lives would look like without you.” While Bryan spends his days at the Center; laughing, engaging, and connecting with friends, Sara has the precious time she needs to rest, run errands, and spend time with loved ones. Knowing Bryan is safe, cared for, and thriving allows her to recharge and continue being the loving wife and caregiver she has always been. For Bryan and Sara, the Black Hills Center for Aging is more than a place of care, it’s a place of hope, friendship, and renewal.
