Victims of Violence Intervention Program
A client came to us from another shelter and needed help with securing an apartment. We worked with her landlord on getting her an apartment and paying her deposit and first month’s rent so that she could get moved in. She was provided referrals to the Department of Labor to help with her job search. She wanted help with counseling as well. We referred her to West River Mental Health so she could get set up there instead of having to drive to Sturgis for appointments. Due to this collaboration with the Sturgis shelter she was able to stay there until we were able to provide her housing assistance. Therefore, she was not homeless and secured permanent housing.
