Your Generosity in Action
For one local third grader, Fridays aren’t just the end of the school week — they’re a source of joy and security. While she sometimes faces academic challenges, her enthusiasm for Fridays never fails. That’s the day she receives her weekend food bag through the Feeding South Dakota BackPack Program.
For her family, it’s a lifeline.
Her caregiver shared that there are times when the family struggles, but because of this program, they know she won’t have to worry about going hungry.
The BackPack Program ensures that children facing food insecurity have access to nutritious meals even when school isn’t in session. Each Friday, bags filled with kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare meals are discreetly placed in students’ backpacks, offering dignity, consistency, and relief.
Thanks to generous donors like you, United Way of the Black Hills is able to make stories like this possible!
