Compass Point Inpatient and Outpatient Counseling Services
My time at Compass Point wasn’t just time, it was an experience, it was THE time, it was putting the power of my life back into my hands. It was where I learned to take my life back.
After my experience at Compass Point three times, I finally no longer was consumed or trapped by a bottle. I learned what part I took in my addiction and what role I played. This allowed me to become accountable and live life on life’s terms without having to turn to a bottle every time something goes wrong.
I learned blaming for my problems is running away from the problem. Some major things that were holding me back were people I was associating myself with, places I was putting myself in and things I was doing.
All of the staff at Compass Point were extremely helpful. My counselor was really helpful at making me feel uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. She allowed me to talk about the things that bothered me but helped me see parts I was playing in allowing these issues to bother me. My counselor was a perfect match for me and she was amazing!!
Also, what I really like is the access I had to other counselors if mine wasn’t around. The techs that were at Compass Point were also amazing. They really took it upon themselves to get to know me. They were not lazy and really involved themselves in things that we did. Whether it was meetings or outside activities, they were always involved, which was great!
I am almost 10 months sober. I haven’t even come close to being sober for this long since I started drinking at 13. The longest I have gone, when it comes to sobriety, was about 45 white knuckling, nail biting days. Today it’s not even hard.
I’m a dad of 2 wonderful kids, able to save money and gradually keep moving up in life. I still have problems, but now I call them “high class problems” and don’t turn to a bottle. I’m clean, sober and happy all thanks to Compass Point.
Thanks to generous donors like you, United Way of the Black Hills is able to make stories like this possible!
