American Red Cross
Belle Fouche: In July of 2024, American Red Cross (ARC) received a call from a client who reported their trailer rolling in straight line winds. ARC was able to meet with the client, who had been inside the trailer when it rolled.
The client sustained broken bones and other injuries and lost many possessions that had been scattered about on the plains when the trailer rolled. The client needed new glasses and replacement prescriptions urgently.
After completing a disaster cycle services intake, the client received funds to stay in a hotel for a few nights, and access to a health services ARC worker who helped replace the glasses and medications.
The ARC workers met with and comforted the client by listening with care and were able to provide not only a place for them to recover and get their feet back under them, but they also gave immediate need of a meal, dog food, toiletries and medications.
