A 16-year-old girl came in due to suicidal ideation and family conflict. She reported feeling she could no longer handle her living situation and discussed stressors with the counselors. Family therapy was provided and shelter care was provided for several days to help the client stabilize. It was determined the client needed longer-term treatment and she was able to be approved for Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). We were able to provide shelter and counseling to this client and then smoothly transition her up to the PRTF unit in the same facility once a bed opened.
