SHIFT Garage
Some of the requests we receive are a little unconventional, but we’re here to help people’s transportation needs any way we can. A few months ago, a man who lives west of Hill City called our Rapid City location. He spoke with our director and shared that he had an SUV on his property that wasn’t running, but if we were able to come get it, he’d donate it to SHIFT Garage. To most, the SUV had no value. It wasn’t drivable. It was in the way at the owner’s property, with weeds growing underneath and around it. But we saw opportunity in that SUV – opportunity to help a man in need and opportunity to use the SUV to bless someone else. Our director went to the man’s home and loaded the SUV onto our tow truck. As promised, the owner donated the SUV, and he was so grateful to have it off his property. SHIFT Garage was able to get some money from donated SUV, and that money was put toward continuing our mission of helping people achieve reliable transportation. Not everything our employees do fits neatly within their job description, but their work always results in helping someone in need.
