*Jamie is a single mother who lives at One Heart Transformation Campus with her two young children. She initially came to YFS’ Child Development Center to enroll her children but couldn’t afford the program registration fee. After receiving some financial help and enrolling her children, she faced additional challenges—late pick-up fees she couldn’t pay due to unreliable transportation. Thanks to United Way funding, Jamie’s registration fees and late pick-up charges were covered, ensuring her children could stay in the program. Jamie now has transportation and often helps other single moms at One Heart whose children attend the CDC by giving them a ride to the Center. With transportation challenges resolved, Jamie applied for a job and is now employed as a Child Development Center Teacher Assistant Substitute. The impact of United Way funding on her family is immeasurable. Receiving the support she needed, Jamie is working and thriving as an assistant teacher substitute.
