Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the BH – CCCS Housing & Financial Counseling and Education

I have recently been working with Julie, who experienced significant hardships and was determined to rebuild her life while improving her financial health. During a difficult period, she became involved in the prison system, which made it impossible for her to maintain her financial obligations. Over the past year, Julie has worked hard to rebuild stability and was recently accepted into OneHeart. Although she had been employed, her hours were limited and her income remained modest. Despite these challenges, Julie maintained a positive attitude and stayed committed to improving her situation. With acceptance into OneHeart, access to stable housing, and a new higher-paying job, her future became brighter than it had been in years. She was finally in a position to begin addressing her past debts. Her debts reflected the financial consequences often associated with an unexpected loss of freedom and separation from society. These included an unfinished rental lease, a vehicle loan that went unpaid, cell phone and utility bills, student loans, and several small credit card balances. Before meeting with me, Julie had already taken initiative by contacting some creditors and establishing payment arrangements where possible. She was now prepared to address larger debts and accounts she was unsure how to manage or contact. Since then, we have successfully contacted all her creditors and enrolled her in a Debt Management Program (DMP). Julie shared that the process lifted a tremendous weight from her shoulders and expressed deep gratitude for the guidance and support we provided.
