SHIFT Garage
A client was referred to SHIFT Garage by the Meade County Drug Court, highlighting an increasingly common collaboration between our organization and drug court officials. These partnerships aim to ensure participants do not fail to appear in court due to a lack of reliable transportation.
The client’s vehicle had developed a dangerous issue: it began shaking violently during operation, rendering it unsafe to drive. SHIFT diagnosed the problem and coordinated with Drug Court officials to complete the necessary repairs.
During this process, our Garage Foreman took the time to discuss the client’s financial situation, offering valuable counseling on managing and paying off the high-interest loan she had used to purchase the vehicle. This guidance was crucial in helping her better afford future repairs and reduce financial stress.
The repair work was completed by our dedicated Open Bible Church repair crew, and the client has since begun applying extra payments toward the principal of her loan. As a result, she is on track to manage her financial obligations and maintain reliable transportation.
We are optimistic that this support will enable her to appear at all scheduled court dates and successfully complete the program.
