Porter the Hoarder Returns!
This year, Black Hills Reads is thrilled to be partnering with the author of Porter the Hoarder, Sean Covel, and Monument Health to provide FREE books and classroom materials to students throughout the Black Hills. Free books for first and second grade students!
First grade students will receive copies of Porter the Hoarder, The Nature Explorer, and second grade students will receive copies of the newly published Porter the Hoarder and the Hospital Hijinks. Each teacher and school library will receive a copy of the book as well, along with Parent Homework and optional classroom activities to enrich the students’ reading experience.
Teacher Resources
Visit the teacher section to find digital versions of the Porter books that can be projected on smart boards and 16 different classroom activities and printable PDFs that will allow teachers to integrate Porter books into lessons. You’ll also find how-to-draw videos, read along videos with the author, and more!
Monument Health Caregiver Class Visits
Monument Health caregivers are visiting second grade classrooms across the Black Hills to read the new Porter The Hoarder and the Hospital Hijinks. Along with reading to the class, they will also gift each student with an engaging play kit to get them excited about health care!
