$1 Per Day
You Make a Difference
Many people living in the Black Hills are employed but have limited assets and are income constrained. The truth is, they look just like you. ALICE is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, and represents the growing number of families who are unable to afford the basics of housing, child care, food, transportation, health care, and technology. These workers often struggle to keep their own households from financial ruin, while keeping our local communities running.
Your $1 per day could mean:
- $75 for utility assistance
- $5 for medication to an uninsured person
- $25 would cover the cost of a counseling session, a roll of insulation for a home, or even one day of high-quality preschool for a child living in poverty
- $18 for a food pantry box for families facing food insecurity
United Way of the Black Hills’ mission is to unite people and resources to improve lives in the Black Hills by delivering measurable long-term solutions to community issues in education, financial stability and health.
