Your Generosity in Action
Thanks to your support, United Way of the Black Hills is proud to share real stories — told in the words of our partners — that show how your generosity is making a difference every day.
CASA 7th Circuit
Again, here is an excerpt from a CASA volunteers’ notes on visiting their children. This narrative shows the care and connection that a CASA can provide. The CASA has a long-standing connection with these children and is noticeably pleased to see them doing well in a new environment.
All children need a community of adults who care about them unconditionally and pay attention to how they are doing. I drove up to Hill City to hang out with C.R. for her birthday! Picked her and J.R. up from the Boys and Girls Club. Both said they were excited for school to start. They chose Chute Roosters for dinner, and we enjoyed playing with C.R.’s birthday present while we waited for food.
The kids seem like they are doing so amazingly. They really are thriving with the consistency and love foster mom has provided. There is a new little girl in the foster home and both C.R. and J.R. are doing great at being older siblings.
A trip to Hill City would not be the same without a trip to Turtletown for Ice Cream. Then, we ran into their foster mom and new foster sister, and we walked with them for a while. They were all going to Lemongrass to listen to music and dance. C.R. got some new glasses, and they look so good on her.
Thanks to generous donors like you, United Way of the Black Hills is able to make stories like this possible!
