Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Black Hills
For a number of years, we have been providing financial education programs for the homeless veterans from the VA in Hot Springs. A bus would take them to our office in Rapid City.
In September 2024 we were notified the VA was no longer able to bring the veterans to our agency. Since we received United Way funding, we were able to continue teaching the financial education classes by traveling to the VA in Hot Springs.
Some comments from the surveys of the veterans when asked what important or helpful financial tip did you learn: too many to mention; always pay bills; check my credit report; the effects and skills to get and maintain credit; that I can overcome my past credit mistakes.
