Your Generosity in Action
Thanks to your support, United Way of the Black Hills is proud to share real stories — told in the words of our partners — that show how your generosity is making a difference every day.
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Black Hills
For the past two years we have participated in the Spearfish Reality Fair for High School Students sponsored by Leadership Spearfish. These students are not tracked in our client numbers as we do not have releases or additional information for them. It is something we can participate in as we have funding from the United Way.
We are also working with a couple of women who have been referred by the Shelter in Spearfish. Finances are often used as a way to control an individual. While the Artemis House is the lead agency, we provide support for these women as they try to figure out how to rebuild their financial lives.
While they have many pressing needs, we can help them find what debt has been put in their names, and how to deal with it. We are a resource they can call on. December 9, 2024, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) kicked off its Rulemaking to Help Mitigate the Financial Consequence of Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse. As these women are working through their situation, we are unable to provide any detailed information on their specific cases.
Thanks to generous donors like you, United Way of the Black Hills is able to make stories like this possible!
