Victims of Violence Intervention Program
A client checked into shelter that we had attempted to serve before; this particular client has been dealing with an ongoing issue of addiction which can seriously hinder progress and safety in shelter.
She came to us after receiving treatment. After this client checked into the shelter, we immediately saw progress. They maintained their sobriety and regularly attended meetings to ensure they remained sober.
They were very independent and eager to work towards their goals, quickly obtaining housing. They have since moved into their own apartment and have also found a job.
During their time in shelter, they were very quick to begin work on the goals they had set for themselves and were thus very quick to achieve them. Advocates assisted in connecting the client to resources available in the community, assisted in obtaining housing and providing a deposit, and connected them to resources in the community to help them maintain their sobriety.
