American Red Cross – Central & Western South Dakota Chapter
In June of 2024, American Red Cross (ARC) received a call from the Emergency Manager of Meade County, who was requesting assistance with a family with three kids who lost their house and pets in a house fire when they were out of town camping.
ARC volunteers were able to meet with the family the next day when they got back into town and was able to provide the family with immediate needs of shelter and toiletries.
Caseworkers worked with the family to provide counseling over the lost pets, as well as assistance with referrals to replace household items and assisted clients in coming up with a plan.
