Your Generosity in Action
Thanks to your support, United Way of the Black Hills is proud to share real stories — told in the words of our partners — that show how your generosity is making a difference every day.
Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills – Grab and Grow!
Jen is in high school getting ready to graduate this year. She has been active in the Hill City Garden project for a few years. Things have not been easy as her mom died when she was very young and dad tries but works odd jobs and drinks a bit much.
At an event she was complaining about her dad and his ways, one of her peers said, “if your dad is so bad why did you end up ok?“ Jen answered “because I was raised by the Boys & Girls Club”. Another peer spoke up and said, “I was too!”
We have had thousands of youths through our doors, many just to have somewhere to hang out, some for homework help and tutoring, others for structure and stability, and some for a caring adult mentor.
Thanks to generous donors like you, United Way of the Black Hills is able to make stories like this possible!
