Impact in Northern Hills

Working Against Violence Inc – Project THRIVE

A mother named Tiffany and her teenage son from a northern hills’ community, came to WAVI after fleeing an unsafe living situation connected to domestic violence and substance abuse within the home. The family had been isolated for years and had very limited support systems. Her spouse was the financial provider, making leaving frightening for her. Upon arrival at WAVI's shelter, WAVI staff provided emergency shelter, food, hygiene items, and immediate emotional support. Through comprehensive case management, the family was connected with medical care, school support services, and trauma-informed counseling referrals. Both Tiffany and her son participated in therapy while staying at WAVI. The teenager, who had struggled academically and socially due to the instability at home, began attending school regularly again and participating in youth activities. Tiffany worked closely with her case manager to establish financial stability and secure permanent housing. Today, Tiffany and her son have a new life while maintaining support from their case manager at WAVI.
