YMCA of the Black Hills – Custer Kidstop & Summer Camp
A success that came out of the grant award to Custer YMCA is an unintentional outcome. The grant award was support for the KidStop Program and Summer Camp providing 296 youth with safe, consistent and educational after school and summer care. The funding from United Way of the Black Hills was an investment in success. An investment in the success of the Custer YMCA and its programing as a valued community partner. An expanded collaboration is in development as a result of funding from United Way. Custer Schools and the Custer YMCA are exploring providing early learning opportunities to families in Hermosa & Custer. Providing quality early learning opportunities and safe, consistent childcare where there are only three licensed providers in Custer County. All three of those programs are run by the YMCA. In Fall of 2026 Hermosa families will have the opportunity to drop off their infants to 6-year-olds at the elementary school for childcare and early learning.
