NeighborWorks Dakota Home Resources – HUD Approved Housing Counseling
Andrew came to NeighborWorks on a recommendation from his lender. Andrew and his wife wanted to purchase the home they were renting in Custer but fell a bit short financially. Not having to move was a big item for them with their two small children. With a household income below 60%AMI and two small children at home, they did not have much opportunity to improve their financial situation through increased income. Andrew called NeighborWorks and spoke with the housing counselor, explaining their situation. The counselor made a few recommendations including applying for a downpayment assistance loan and completing the homebuyer education course. Andrew registered for and completed the homebuyer education course while their loan application was being processed. The loan was approved and they purchased their first home in May.
