SHIFT Garage
In November 2024, we were approached by a family from Wanblee, South Dakota, who had experienced an unimaginable loss. A devastating house fire had claimed not only their home but also their vehicle, leaving them without the means to navigate their daily lives.
The family reached out to us in their time of need, and we knew we had to act. They had $125 to spare, and at SHIFT, we had a car that could help get them back on their feet. The vehicle’s total cost value was $600, but we were determined to make it work. SHIFT covered the remaining cost by donating the parts and resources needed to close the gap.
This act of support meant that the family could leave with a working vehicle that very day. The timing was critical, as they needed the car to attend their grandmother’s funeral and assist with packing up her belongings. By stepping in, we were able to provide not just transportation but also the opportunity for them to be present for their loved ones during such a difficult time.
At SHIFT, we believe in doing more than just providing vehicles; we aim to restore hope and offer a lifeline when it’s needed most. This story underscores our mission to serve and uplift our community in meaningful ways.
We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to make a difference for this family and proud to continue our work in ensuring reliable transportation is accessible to those who need it most.
