Since 1994, a determined individual has been receiving support from Black Hills Works. She has proudly worked for the same employer for 30 years, demonstrating that with the right resources, success is within reach.
What makes her story truly remarkable is that she secured her job entirely on her own, without assistance from the Black Hills Works employment team. This achievement reflects the ultimate goal of Black Hills Works: empowering individuals to thrive in their community.
To facilitate her daily commute, grant funds from United Way matched her own contributions, allowing her to travel on Rapid Ride to work, where she helps prepare materials for shipping.
Reflecting on her journey, she shares, “When I was a kid, my teachers and classmates told me over and over that I couldn’t do it, and here I am, proving them wrong!”
